Lady Tigers crush ANU
Women division 2 started with pressure from the first minute against their ANU rivals, whom they beat 2-0 in the pre-season cup, attacking from the right and left wings with Beth McMahon and Rebecca Thompson. The first goal came from striker Libby Goggin in the 15th minute when she received a long ball from defender Grace Daley, and finished with good kick from inside the box. The rest of the first half saw lots of attacking on Cooma’s behalf, but no more goals.

The second goal came in 53rd minute with a cool finish from Libby again, when the ANU keeper dropped the ball after a long distance shot from Rebecca Thompson. The Lady Tigers continued the pressure, especially centre midfielders Tina Cafarelli, Alicia Connell and Annie Crofts. They controlled the game with solid support from the centre backs Grace Daley, Emma Gerrand and Rebecca Pascal; Georgia Peters, Lara McAuley and Courtney Freeman all had good games as right and left backs.

Beth McMahon was the next to score, with brilliant ball skills from inside the goal mouth that were too quick for the keepers reaction. The 4th goal for Cooma, and hat-trick for Libby, came when she finished off a stunning kick from Letitia Newman with a header. Kailey Tonini and Rebecca Pascall were the goal keepers for the Cooma Tigers.

Player of the day went to Tina Cafarelli, who showed outstanding performance and played an excellent game for 80 minutes. The Lady Tigers beat their opponents 4-0 in the end; a good improvement from the 2-0 victory in the pre-season.
